WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS AND RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE

(As per the Ministerial Decree published in the Official Gazette no.64 of 18/03/03, Article 1 paragraph 3)

The application and use of contact lenses are possible only when the anatomical and functional conditions of the patient's eye allow it.

There are some risk factors, detectable by the specialist, which may be responsible for complications or the onset of intolerance phenomena. The lens applicator specialist is aware of these problems and can recommend or not the use of contact lenses only after a careful examination of the subject.

To use contact lenses safely, you must carefully follow the instructions for proper application, removal, cleaning and maintenance. In order to avoid eye damage, it is important to check for the absence of contraindications with your specialist and undergo periodic checks. Use sterile contact lenses and no longer than the recommended period.

At the end of the period of use recommended in the package (daily, biweekly, monthly, etc.) the lenses must be replaced with a new pair.

  • It is necessary to remove the lenses and consult the specialist in case of redness, burning, a sensation of a foreign body or excessive tearing, blurred vision, or other visual disturbances.
  • Diuretic drugs, antihistamines, decongestants, tranquilizers can cause dry eyes, in which case it is necessary to consult a specialist.
  • If a chemical comes into contact with your eyes, rinse immediately and see a specialist immediately.
  • Avoid exposure to harmful vapors or hair sprays.
  • Always use unexpired contact lens solutions whenever you store your lenses and never use running water to rinse them.
  • Never put the lenses in your mouth to moisten them
  • Consult the specialist on how to use it during sporting activities.
  • Avoid the use of contact lenses when bathing in the sea, swimming pools and showers in public places.
  • Avoid using soaps containing creams, lotions, or cosmetic oils before using the lenses.

Failure to comply with the rules for the correct use of contact lenses can cause serious damage to the eye. Corneal ulcers responsible for visual impairment may rarely occur. The risk of contracting ulcerative keratitis increases in the event of non-compliance with the rules of hygiene and use when wearing lenses for a longer time than recommended. The risk of ulcerative keratitis increases significantly in smokers.

Contact lenses with UV protection do not replace sunglasses because they do not completely cover the entire anterior segment. Therefore, contact lens wearers must continue to wear sunglasses in case of UV exposure.
